Tigers take office

Posted on Jan. 12, 2009 by Karen Pojmann

University of Missouri alumni were sworn in today as top office-holders in the executive branch of Missouri’s state government.

Newly elected Gov. Jay Nixon earned both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree at Mizzou. So did Chris Koster, who was sworn in today as Missouri’s attorney general, Nixon’s former position.

Among the re-elected state leaders getting back to work today is another Tiger, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.

Nixon is in good company. Seven other Mizzou alumni have served as governor of Missouri: James T. Blair Jr., Mel Carnahan, John M. Dalton, Forrest C. Donnell, Warren E. Hearnes, Guy B. Park and Roger B. Wilson.
